Welcome to the Home of The Hawk In October – Chicago, Illinois

It's News To Us.

NEW (04/20/09):  The Hawk In October welcomes its newest member, Sarah Scanlon! Sarah is an excellent vocalist for a start, but also a gifted instrumentalist (piano, hammered dulcimer, oboe, english horn), and a tremendously talented songwriter. But that's just the music side of her. She is also an actor and an aerialist (trapeze). She has actually played oboe while in the air, but we will probably not ask that of her in one of our shows. Then again... Welcome, Sarah!

NEW (04/05/09):  The Hawk In October has added the all-important beat to the ensemble, in the person of Kat Fitzgerald, multi-talented drummer and percussionist, as well as excellent photographer (look for really great photos of the band [FINALLY] in the not-too-distant future). And welcome to Kat!

NEW (03/12/09):  The Hawk In October is proud to announce the arrival of a new member to the aerie:

Chris Hopper: Bass and Guitar, backing vocals. Chris is a truly gifted musician, equally at home on a variety of guitars and basses. Chris will be focusing primarily on acoustic and electric guitars for The Hawk In October. You can get a feel for what Chris is capable of by visiting his MySpace page. Welcome, Chris!

UPDATE (02/02/09): All good things come to an end... and then they get recycled!

The Hawk In October is going through a transition period, as we rebuild after the loss of, well... most of the band. While it was initially difficult to consider continuing the band after the loss of Matt, Barrett, Marke and Ruibo, who have all found themselves forced to choose between conflicting priorities (often very hard choices, and I didn't envy them their positions), I have decided to keep going with the band format. I want very much to thank all of them for their dedication to my music and the performance of it, and hope like hell I can find new bandmates who are at least as dedicated, to say nothing of the level of talent to which they'll have to rise.

So, this isn't goodbye after all, but rather, "stay tuned."

Jeff
